Our good friend, Russ Parish is skilled electrical engineer. But better than that, he is a fantastic guitarist and singer.
Russ has most recently worked for Rockwell Automation in Cleveland. He helped with the modernization of the main Federal Express facility in Memphis and was selected by Rockwell to be the engineer on site when the project went live. Not only did the project go off flawlessly, Russ was able to visit Sun Studios, the Gibson Guitar Factory, eat his fill of Barbeque, and return with T shirts for everyone.
One of Russ's first jobs was with Monroe , the calculator and copy machine company. It's good he left when he did, since their business is a shadow of it's former self. Russ cut his teeth on industrial automation when he worked for Precision Machine Controls. He then moved on to Economy Machine which was acquired by Taylor Winfield.
Russ is at his best when he is playing his guitar and singing. While in high school, he started a band with his friend Jim Porter called Breakwater. After graduation, he worked with a greek band, travelling all around Ohio and surrounding states. He even played the infamous Beverly Hills Supper Club in Kentucky before the fire. While working at Monroe, Russ met Don Burns, who ran a 17 piece Glenn Miller big band and joined up on guitar. This is where Russ met Dale Janus, Jim Bickley, and others who went on to form Guys Without Ties.
Guys Without Ties was the right combination of musicians, at the right age (middle!) who hit it off musically and personally. The band started in 1992 and has been playing ever since. Russ did take a year or so off when working at Rockwell, but couldn't stay away and was soon back with the Guys. The band is carrying on but can't wait until Russ is well enough to return and amaze audiences with the sweet sounds of his guitar.
